Edited by Emma Timpany
A compelling collection of poetry and prose from Women Speak Volumes (South West) explores how age and gender shape visibility.
The writers reflect on women's (in)visibilities . challenges. attempts at diminishment and claim their right to freedom, clarity and complexity with strong, resonant voices.
Women Speak Volumes (South West) is a collective comprising older women writers from Cornwall and Devon. In April of this year, they published (in)Visibilities, among contributors to the book are Amanda Harris, Clare Owen, Emma Timpany, Jackie Taylor, Helen Scadding, Helen Thomas, Shelley Trower, Pippa Marriott and Tracey Fuller. Together they explore the themes of (in)Visibilities: how the marginalisation of age, gender and lack of literary visibility shapes writing. But, also, whether invisibility offers unexpected freedoms, authority and creative power.
