Originally from the West Midlands, Paul Taylor-McCartney is an author, researcher and lecturer who moved to Cornwall seven years ago to complete a PhD in Creative Writing and enjoy a different pace of life. His interests include dystopian literature, LGBTQ+ studies, children’s fiction and initial teacher education.
His poetry, short fiction and academic articles have appeared in a wide range of print and electronic forms. He was co-founder of Hermitage Press, and worked as its commissioning editor for several years, championing local talent and producing some award-winning titles, including the prestigious Gorsedh Kernow Holyer an Gof Award for Literary Fiction (2025).
He published his debut children's novel, ‘Sisters of the Pentacle’ (2022) and his first non-fiction book, 'Cornwall Uncharted: Mapping Cornwall's Queer History of Concealment, Culture and Creativity' is due to be published by the History Press in June 2026.
He is busy drafting Books Two and Three of The Broken Pentacle Series whilst editing a collection of ghost stories, a full-length dystopian novel and his first memoir.
